We love spring-time in our house because we can finally go and spend hours playing outside. I have one, however, with seasonal allergies, so we also spend a good amount of time playing indoors. These are our favorite indoor places to go and the best part is they can be enjoyed all year and on rainy days.
Lynn Meadows Discovery Center. This is a children’s museum type place on Dolan Avenue in Gulfport. This place is amazing for kids aged about 7 and under. There is so much for them to do! They have a veterinary clinic, a train, an airplane to Africa, a grocery store, a hotel, a newsroom and so much more. They also have a beautiful property with lots to do outside too. We are members here and go very often. www.lmdc.org/
The Salvation Army Kroc Center. This is a community center on Division Street in Biloxi. We love to go here and use the indoor aquatic area. It is like an indoor splash pad with a pool and a water slide. This place has water areas for young and older kids, but if you do have smaller kids, be prepared to get in the water with them. This facility also offers camps for kids and fitness for adults. krocmscoast.org
The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies. This place is located on the industrial seaway just off Lorraine Road in Gulfport. This place is cool! Here the kids can go through a marine museum, explore all types of marine life in a large touch pool, dig for a sharks tooth fossil and see a dolphin show. My kids love to see and touch all the sea animals and I love how educational it all is. They only offers tours to the public at certain times and on a limited basis, so make sure you check out the website or call ahead. imms.org
Kangaroos. This is a jump house place located in D’Iberville. My younger one isn’t old enough to enjoy a good jumpy house or inflatable slide yet, but my older ones love it. This place is big and has a good amount of inflatable things for them to keep busy with. They also have a stage area where my daughter likes to just dance and play. http://www.mykangarooz.com/
Infinity Science Center. Located right by the Mississippi Welcome Center near the Louisiana state line, the center offers an Omega flight simulator, guided tours, and a kids center full of activities. For a more in-depth look at the center, you can view our post here.
We also love going to the movies and Chick-fil-a. We love Chick-fil-a because we can eat, maybe get some ice cream and then play in the children’s play area. There’s one in Gulfport and in D’Iberville.
